That good old Kiwi quality – experience - is at the heart of what Steve brings to our business.
Having started out in the building trade at the tender age of 18, Steve gained his building skills from working with his dear old Dad for 18 years, and he hasn't looked back. He's gone on to manage renovation projects with budgets as tiny as $350, to sizeable budgets of $9 million plus. Along the way, he's collected all of the skills required to be a successful project manager, including an understanding of the entire build, cost allocations and that critical skill – time management.
Steve is a champion multi-tasker, which is one of the most recognised skills successful project managers hold. Being able to juggle multiple projects at one time, whilst not dropping the ball on any, is Steve's forte. Using systems to support the delivery of tasks on time and on budget, is one of the keys to his success.
Satisfaction for Steve comes from delivering to his clients what has been promised, and he achieves this by taking time to fully understand client needs and wants. If that picture looks flawed to Steve's professional eye, he will be sure to provide his clients with alternative options that will deliver the successful outcome they are seeking.
Born and bred in Auckland south, Steve is a dedicated family man, and has been married to his lovely wife Karen for over 20 years. He and Karen have survived the teenage years, and their two boys Jake and Dylan are doing them proud as they head towards adulthood.
During the summer months, you'll find Steve trying his luck in local waters as he attempts to catch "the big one" on yet another fishing escapade. And if that doesn't work, he'll throw on the scuba gear and hit the sea for a dive! If the fishing's no good, he'll pop on some skis, soak up the sun and try his luck out the back of the boat, water skiing with friends and family.
Having spent 15 years playing rugby for Pakuranga United, and then a further 15 years coaching rugby teams, come winter time you'll find Steve watching his favourite game. As per Kiwi tradition, he'll, of course, be offering up suggestions from the couch. Go the AB's!
