Project description: From worn-out to spacious: Kitchen renovation
Location: Lower Hutt
Project estimate: $80k - $90k
Duration: The project was completed almost 1 month ahead of schedule
This worn-out kitchen in Lower Hutt was in need of a makeover. Renovation specialist Steve Wang was asked to carry out a complete renovation. This included providing a new layout design, converting an existing window into a sliding door, installing new flooring, plastering and painting the entire kitchen as well as converting the original back door area into a walk-in pantry.
After discussing the brief with his clients, Steve provided them with a project estimate of $80k - $90k, advising them that there was a risk of asbestos being present in the kitchen’s vinyl flooring. Shortly after, asbestos was discovered and the project estimate was amended so that this could be addressed. Steve presented his clients with a quote, all costs included, and, with their approval, the renovation work began.
Steve managed the renovation, from the briefing through to completion, keeping his customers updated throughout every stage. Engineered stone benchtops were installed as well as tile splashbacks. The kitchen flooring was updated with vinyl planks, while timber was used to update the deck and balustrade. Thanks to a well-designed schedule and a swift window supplier, Steve and his team were able to carry out the entirety of the renovation almost one month in advance.
“The client was very happy with the outcome”, tells Steve.
Converting the original back door area into a walk-in pantry was a great decision, explains Steve. “This has given the kitchen so much extra storage and achieved generous bench space, which the client has always wanted.”
