We had a vision of a complex under house extension - separate unit with 2 bedrooms, kitchen, bathroom, living areas, deck looking over underutilised back yard and elevated views. We found it hard to get anyone to even look at the job. But Martin at Refresh Renovations Gold Coast took it step by step - ideas, concepts, initial plans through to full drawings, costings, engineers report etc. The result was a beautiful design that we loved. Unfortunately the engineering and construction aspects of building under our house on a steep gradient put it out of our reach. But Martin's approach made it possible to explore thoroughly before making our decision. We've referred family members to Martin since and their major renovation is now under way.

This review is taken from Google and is 5*:- From the get go, Martin and his team at Refresh made us feel comfortable in the choice to engage them - looking into adding a second storey to our house was a first for us and Martin explained each stage, what would be needed and the full scope coverage they could provide in extreme depth which was great. We went through both concept and feasibility stages. At the concept stage, JC from Perfect Square alongside Martin talked us through various option of how they had envisioned our plan notes and bought it to life - and they were very open to discussion and accommodating when we had queries as to whether other options would work. Once the final concept was agreed upon, we went to the feasibility stage and this was amazingly thorough and left no detail or cost unaccounted for - which is brilliant when you are doing a build/extension. We are pretty happy with the final product but it took a longer time and more negotiating than we expected. The Refresh Gold Coast team were very pleasant and quick to address issues when they arose and made us feel comfortable about making changes and corrections to ensure the bathroom was right for us. No unexpected or additional costs which was great. Easy to get along with and whilst timelines were longer than promised, that seems to be pretty common in this industry. Some finishes were below what we expected but when we raised these things, they were swiftly rectified. We really like the finished product!

My home is now complete. After Martin and his team did a wonderful job renovating the first floor of my villa, I decided to go ahead with Refresh to renovate my ground floor; a space that could be used for a self contained unit, or additional space for spreading out and taking advantage of the garden. After discovering issues with the structural beam, and on engineers advice, the main beam was replaced, the kitchenette redesigned to sit unobtrusively along one wall and the back of the house opened up with bifold doors, bringing the outside in. Martin's team was efficient and the work was timely. Any issues were dealt with and resolved. I'm very happy with the finished product and now have a brand new home. Thanks Martin and Refresh.

Martin and Rick completed a mid-size renovation for us, work was completed to a high standard, great communication throughout and they were always open and agreeable to variations that cropped up along the way.

We wanted to modernise our thirty-year-old home and still retain the country charm. Where could we even begin? Thankfully we began with Refresh Renovations. I was delighted, after having had what I felt were a few quick quotes from others, when Martin came and spent about an hour with me at the first visit – so important to me as someone with no other way of judging the likely quality of end results from different builders. I felt Rick, our builder, and Martin, made an excellent team, with Martin providing excellent communication, and calling on Rick’s extensive knowledge of the construction side, whenever I asked a question Martin was not sure about. The process of negotiating with the council to maximise the size of the deck I was allowed was also invaluable.

The uncertainties of timelines for completion were I feel well explained, and set out in the contract, and although exceeded to some extent, I was comfortable with this having to some extent been forewarned about delays with council approvals.

Likewise, with the budget, it was higher than I had anticipated but seemed reasonable for the attention being paid to the project.

I would strongly recommend Refresh Renovations to someone not quite sure of how to go about the whole process of translating their idea into reality, and as I think the photos show, along with favourable comments from neighbours, the excellent end result is witness to the value of the careful, unhurried thought and planning which Martin and Rick put into every step along the way.

Recently we contracted Refresh Renovations and Martin to compile a mapping of all the area around the building. We asked for the mapping to show all the areas we intend to have irrigation installed in. We also wanted all the other existing infrastructure, car parks, pathways, drains, Stormwater. ventilation outlets, pool and surrounds etc included. We also required drop-down files in various formats.
We are very happy with the plans and files that have been done. They were always very helpful in making any changes we required during the process.
